Hnin Hnin Pyne is a Burmese national currently completing doctoral studies in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Johns Hopkins. She is studying the health and social risks of Burmese women migrant laborers in southern Thailand. Before coming to Johns Hopkins, Ms. Pyne was a scholar in the HIV/AIDS Program Division of the World Bank in Washington, DC. She completed an M.S. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993, where her thesis was on Burmese women trafficked into the Asian sex industry. Note: Since this paper was authored, Hnin Hnin Pyne completed her doctoral studies and currently works at The World Bank.
